The Royal Liverpool Seamen's Orphan Institution
(R.L.S.O.I) has over the last 130 years provided financial and other support to
the dependant children of deceased British seafarers.
Until 1949 the Institution funded and ran
its own orphanage in Newsham Park, Liverpool and since its closure, has
concentrated on continuing to implement the original concept by providing the
necessary finances for the education and welfare of the children.
We presently assist some 175 families
throughout the U.K. and provide not only financial assistance but also help and
guidance.
Help takes the form of monthly grants,
clothing grants and in some cases, assistance with school fees.
It is important that all those involved
with merchant seafaring should be aware of the Institution and of the fact that
in most cases it will be able to provide help to those children left in need as
a result of their parents death.
